The ATEM Mini and Mini Pro are so ridiculously feature rich, that even if you run everything through external converters to get to SDI you're still gonna come out ahead.

BMD can't make them fast enough for a reason. There is nothing else with its feature set anywhere remotely close to the price point.

There is the new ATEM Mini Pro ISO as well! Their third product in this sub-range.

There will almost certainly be a bunch of slightly used Mini Pros coming on the market as soon as the Mini Pro ISOs start shipping.

And I bet those ATEM Mini Pros will sell for close to RRP (maybe even above RRP! It has been happening), because BMD can't make them fast enough, and ATEM Minis are widely out of stock.

Mine took 90 days to deliver, but I'm glad I had the patience.
There are a lot of smaller dealer out there who may have stock.
The biggies like B&H sell out instantly because everyone assumes they have more stock.
Our own Scott Holtzman is a BMD dealer.

No love for vMix, let alone OBS?

There are major advantages to hardware switching and streaming.
The hardware is designed and dedicated for that single purpose.
There are buttons on the AMP to do the basic switching, and with laptop connected, you can record and play complicated macros to do all sorts of stuff.
There is even an Ipad app to run the macros as buttons (Strata Macros).
Your laptop can do the entire job fine until it doesn't; the CPU is doing all the switching, streaming, and converting.
Capturing multiple cameras to a laptop can be problematic.
It's not uncommon to do a lot of your graphics on the laptop and feeding it into the AMP.

The AMP can run as a standalone device, once it's set up.
Plug in your camera(s), monitor and internet, push the stream button and your streaming.

No doubt. However.

Three of my cameras come in HDMI, but the main two run 4k so I can crop into them. Two of my cameras come in NDI, and one SRT. One of those six would go cleanly through an AMP. vMix on a recent $1200 gaming laptop handles this all fine.

I'm not proselytizing. I don't even own vMix yet. Still on the 60 day preview. Couple more weeks I have to decide whether to drop the $700. I don't see any hardware giving me anywhere near the flexibility at anywhere near the price point, though.

I'm running three cameras into OBS on a five year old laptop and it runs at about 30% CPU. One camera is 720, so OBS is having to upscale that to 1080. I'm also running ReaComp on the audio input and a graphic overlay. I set up scenes with hotkeys, so I can select a scene with a number and transition with the spacebar. If I just go back and forth between two scenes I can simply hit the spacebar.

But OBS can be finicky. If the computer goes into sleep mode (before starting the stream as I think OBS prevents sleep mode), it disables the hotkeys. I just set the power options to always on.

I use and Intensity Shuttle USB for my audio input and main video input, and it's also a bit finicky. But once everything is on and working it seems to be solid through an event. I just allow time to get it ready before the show.

My cameras can record themselves so not being able to record them externally isn't a big deal. I'm used to syncing things up in post.

There's no doubt that the AMP isn't going to work for everyone.
Are you running all six cameras at once?
On the three HDMI cams, you still need converters to get them into your computer.
Are you using an audio interface?
The SRT and NDI feed are over ethernet, so that is an advantage.
I have one PTZ SDI camera with a converter.
One of the points of the AMP is that if you choose the right cameras, don't need any external hardware; the AMP does it all.

Question: how're you getting the camera feeds into the laptop? Do you have a bunch of HDMI capture cards, or something else?

TIA,
