This reminds me of a mythbusters video:

By having the sick subject knowingly trying to touch everyone and everything he possibly can, yeah, that shows that spread could happen.  However, a big problem is that it doesn't cover how much material needs to get into someone to be a problem.  Touching a fork, then having someone else touch it, and then they wipe their hands before touching their face probably means there's little to no chance of enough virus getting into someone.  Because if colds spread as easily as showing the UV dye shows, everyone would have colds all the time.  If you look back at the number of times you went to a dinner party and someone did have a cold and you didn't end up with a cold after it, it should tell you that this 'test' is missing some other variables as to what causes colds to spread.

I take it you're talking about the Mythbusters video.

I've seen a similar vid done to demonstrate how food borne illness can occur from cross-contamination from uncooked ingredients to cooked foods via the person(s) preparing the food.  In the instance I'm thinking of, the producers coated uncooked chicken and other raw foodstuffs with UV-florescents.  When the meal was ready to serve they turned on the UV lights to show just how easily salmonella could be spread around.  Loss of appetite was reported.  Glowing hands, towels, work surfaces, utensils.

Fomite transmission of SARS-CoV-2 leading to infection is still under study but there are growing comments from the scientific community that surface borne virus transmission may be getting too much emphasis under some circumstances.

https://www.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/laninf/PIIS1473-3099(20)30561-2.pdf

This doesn't negate the advice to wash hands - the more people around the greater the possibility that someone may well sneeze or cough on handrails (or their own hands, and then touch a door handle) that another person will touch soon thereafter.  This greatly enhances the chance of transfer compared to one person using an item that won't be handled again for 72 hours.  So one need not wipe down the Amazon packages but it's probably wise to wash your hands after opening the Door Dash delivery.

We'll all be doing some Sanitation Theater - putting on a show - to demonstrate we understand we have a duty of care and take it seriously.  The means of more likely viral transmission - air borne - we have no control over... so we'll show that we do what we can to not unnecessarily expose our workers, clients, colleagues, talent, and the public via those things over which we have actual control.

The concert exercises discussed here are primarily to see how crowd behavior and compliance with certain policies will affect potential transmission vectors and whatever is learned will be applied to practices going forward (or lead to more exercises/studies).  Ultimately what is learned from this event will enable venues to offer safer environments (the stuff they can control) and perhaps we'll get closer to live shows again.

the subjects should be provided with free medical care should they need it
It's not in the US. They already have that.

While medical care in Germany isn't free, it isn't some weird fucked up situation like in the states.  I had to get a knee scoped 12 years ago. I think it cost me something like 25 euro, which paid for physio therapy and orderlies to take me home and help me up the stairs. If I had taken a normal taxi, it probably would have cost more money.
Just for the record, socialized medicare isn't "free" in any country that has it. Here in Canada, we pay taxes, and in exchange, our medical is covered. It's not a perfect system, but for the most part it works fine.

Agreed, I got a Kidney Transplant, and all the wonderful drugs I'll be on for the rest of my life....
The care and followup I get from the different departments at the hospital is without complaint.
Hey, we all pay taxes, right?
I wouldn't even want to guess what the last 5 years has "cost" the health system, but it left me working, and still paying my share of taxes. I even qualify for a "Frequent Flyer" card for all my visits... 8) around 12-15 a year right now. I had 2 appointments this morning.

I was thinking more of things that cause pain and discomfort but I prefer where you went.
