RIP MOV
« on: June 30, 2020, 02:33:43 PM »

This just in: a 40 year old $4 power strip gave up the ghost during a storm last night. It saved a lamp, an ancient LED alarm clock and a dual USB charger.

Thank you old friend for your many years of service.

Can’t you rebuild it?  Don’t you have the technology?  You could make it better than it was before.

With inflation, that would be the Four Thousand Dollar Surge Protector!

For those too young to get the reference, we're making fun of the Six Million Dollar Man...

Hell, a trip to the hospital and a 3 week stay in ICU is over half a mil now, Steve Majors Austin would be the Six Zillion Dollar Man today.

edit ps: Henry, thanks for doing the math with inflation! Turns out a Zillion ain't worth what it used to be, now only $5,774,639.50!

. . . Steve Majors would be the Six Zillion Dollar Man today.

Actually, $34,647,837.00 in 2020 dollars

And the character's name was Steve Austin, played by Lee Majors. How soon we forget . . .

How quickly conflated, even!  I shall edit appropriately.

...and Lee Majors was married for a few years to Farrah Faucett (the blonde babe in the original "Charlie's Angels") in the 70's.
When I was in HS, every dude had a pic of Farrah in their locker...

No need to rebuild, I probably have another dozen :-)
