« on: June 05, 2020, 01:07:37 AM »

Yet another console I'm working on controlling...

Could use some assistance if anyone has a dLive and would like to help!

I know you use a different programming language but the Dlive has it's own custom programming language/system I've used some other peoples ideas though con fess to not sitting down and actually programming something myself.

Not sure this is what you're looking for but I have used A&H's Custom Control to put together a few little apps with good results. The most useful is to allow the band to make monitor adjustments from their iThingies. It has a tab for each monitor mix and faders for each source. They love it and I love it. Now these are all pretty tech-savvy musicians and we've only used it in high GBF-margin environments.

I would not call Custom Control a programming language. It's more a visual app builder and is a little fiddly to get looking just right. You need to think how to compromise the layout for devices with different screen aspect ratios, for example. When I first started playing with it I wanted to incorporate all the cool features, like metering. I ended up making it really simple, just labeled tabs and faders. I'm a bit of a closet UI designer so I had great fun choosing functionality, layout, sizes, colors, and so forth.

I wish there WAS a control "language" that A&H would document. Their MIDI command set is woefully lacking, so it requires sniffing their packets to find a lot of the useful commands.

StreamDeck is a different thing, as I'm sure you know.

I know some people are having some success with this thing.

A&H have always been a bit odd with MIDI probably the lack of a keyboard department. Or even for that matter not being part of the original standards committee

Bomebox not needed unless you're trying too use a program that ONLY supports MIDI. SD/Companion doesn't need it.
Getting MIDI to/from the dLive is not the issue, the issue is that A&H only implemented a few functions in MIDI.
My module breaks that limitation by NOT using their MIDI commands.

OK I can see how that could keep you busy. I can't get near to our Dlive just now but would be willing to give it a try once the travel restrictions get lifted
