DCX2496 RS485 pinout
« on: May 29, 2020, 05:02:51 AM »

Hi all,

I have an older DCX2496 and I am trying to use RS485 to communicate over a longer distance that RS232 will support reliably. The manual and sync manual show that it should connect straight from an RS485 port to one of the RS ports on the DCX. I have it with the term switch on and the Port setup set to RS485 - LINK as per the manual but no bueno. Normal usb-serial works perfectly fine when set up for that in the Port setup, and I've made sure the usb-rs485 adapter is configured in Windows as per the manual too.

I'm hoping someone may have controlled a dcx over RS485 and could let me know the pinout they used for the RJ45 male end. I found a German forum where they apparently used 'pins 3 and 6 and ground' but so far, I cannot connect using my usb-rs485 interface that I use frequently. I've also tried two or three other pin configurations with no luck either.

Cheers,
Mick
