The new Yamaha console
« on: May 12, 2020, 06:55:28 AM »

Yamaha Pro Audio just posted a teaser video on their Facebook and Twitter accounts of a new console, to be revealed on May 20, 2020 at 13:00EDT/10:00PDT

With the caption: Our growing family just got smaller. Meet our newest arrivals.

Here's the best screen cap I could get. Looks like maybe a new CL with two rows of knobs above the channel strip like the PM series? a PM Mini maybe?

I hope for something light for fly dates that can do enough channels(48+).

QL1 biggest flaw is the limited number of channels, otherwise I would own one.

I wager 3000 quatloos on a PM7C.

I think the intriguing part is the last word of the video.

I think the QL and CL generation will be better with an upgrade especially competition in this space is getting tough in that price region (e.g Wings, Avantis, StudioAi) with that channel count.

I'm thinking the very quick shot of a console is *not* the console(s) being introduced, it's just a PM10 or PM7.

I'm fairly certain this will replace the CL5, be 96k, use RIO D2 boxes, and the price will be comparable to S6L 24C or SD12.  I assume it will be called  Rivage PM5.  Given the lineage of PM5D and CL5 I expect this to become the workhorse in the line.  Hopefully there is a 3 and a 1 as well.

it does say “our family is getting smaller”. The question would be how many smaller? It’s almost certainly a PM 5, will it be available in multiple sizes?
