Huh! No experience with it, but as a supporter of Open Source ideology this looks very interesting!

For basic two-channel measurements this looks like it'd do the job (and in real-time, unlike REW). Commercial software packages will win out on features (workflow optimization, trace averaging, acoustic impulse response capturing, SPL metering, etc.), but if you're not in a hurry and you're doing relatively simple stuff this would probably be just fine.

I'm somewhat familiar with it and agree with Russell's comments. This is a great option for folks who are looking to get their feet wet with measurement. REW has always been a good "first analyzer" but a true real-time dual-channel tool that's open source is a nice development. No pun intended. :D

Nathan Lively posted a video review of OSM that identified a few issues with the software.  However, that review is now a year old, so the latest software is probably much improved.  I only mention this because the issues that Nathan points out in the video are not things that a novice user would probably pick up on.

FWIW - Rational has just extended the trial license period for Smaart v8 to 90 days.
