8 channels of qlxd with 2 ) ua844 antenna combiners?
« on: March 01, 2020, 02:07:13 PM »

Hi guys ,

So I have 8 channels of qlxd that I'm looking to use with 2) shure ua844 antenna distros.

These units have 4 outputs per unit, but they do not have the cascade output so can I technically really only use 7 channels of qlxd with this setup ? Or can I use a passive split to split the antennas between the two ua844 or maybe instead use a passive split for the last 2 channels of qlxd ? I'm thinking I will lose gain doing this ?

Any insight is appreciated !

Thanks !

Nick

Use the passive splits between the distro and the last pair of receivers and you'll be fine. Using the passive splitters between the antennas and the splitters breaks the power to the antennas ( if they are powered like say paddles ) and reduces the level arriving at the distro antenna inputs.

Do you already have the UA844s? It sounds like you might be better served with a different distro.

That's what I suspected in regards to losing the bias voltage with a passive split on the antennas.

Right now I'm just using the omni whips but I may get paddles or a rf venue combined antenna

I will just use the shure passive splits for qlxd 7 and qlxd 8

I already own the pair of ua844 already ...so will give this a shot !

Thanks !

As long as you see pretty consistent full bars on the last two units, you are good, and need never think about this again.
