Slimy cords after freezing
« on: February 29, 2020, 04:38:26 PM »

One of my trunks got left in the van and it ended up freezing. The result is some cables ended up getting really slimy. (Belden8412 cable and some other cables)

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Wiping them down gets rid of some of the slime, but they still are gross.

I have some cables I made almost 30 years ago from Conquest mic cable that will do that even if not "deep frozen" just an overnight chill in the case will do it. When they warm up it soaks back in.
I believe it's oil of some form from the jacket.
I don't take those cables out much any more though they have held up well over the years.
