is IMAX using a Danley system?
« on: January 25, 2020, 10:07:28 PM »

Hi Everyone,
Mike Hedden CEO at Danley says in a video that they are in IMAX, I would love to experience it. So I was just wondering if all IMAX locations are using Danley's or only some locations? If only some, which do?

The locations near me are:
Liberty Science Center N.J.
Palisades Center in West Nyack

Thanks...

Yoel,

I suggest you ask this question over at Film-Tech under the Digital Cinema forum. Here is a link,

Or just ask Danley themselves. They will tell you installations around you where you can hear these products. FWIW, I wouldn't listen to a cinema system if you want to use them in a H.O.W> install. It's a completely different beast.

I think there are 2 IMAXs with Danley.  One in Virginia and the other around Michigan.  "Navy pier" rings a bell

Yeah, I think that is it.  If I am not mistaken there are TH50s and SH96s in there

From the web-
..."numerous theaters and cineplexes have already adopted them years ago. These include Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry's five-story IMAX theater, Detroit's Emagine Novi's giant screen (the largest in Michigan), and Atlanta's LanierWorld's outdoor theater, among many others."

Little swerve but I had the “pleasure” of mixing a church once that met in a movie theater.  They had some of their own subs (2x18 bins, don’t recall specifics)  it the rest of the audio was through the main theater L/R.  It was an.... experience.  I made it work and the client was happy but it was not at all a friendly system to mix on.
