HDMI Extender Help Needed
« on: January 10, 2020, 11:25:04 AM »

Can anybody recommend a good quality, dependable HDMI to Cat5e/Cat6 extender kit with IR?

We are doing just a simple point to point application for a couple of video projectors in a church. They will need IR so they can turn the projectors on/off from the sound booth. Max distance is less than 200ft

Been looking at the AV Pro Edge AC-EX70-UHD-Kit. Not sure if it works well with Cat5e though.

Thanks

It's what I use to run 250' on CAT6.  IR works but positioning the emitter is finicky.  For $90 you can't go too far wrong.

We use these as well, plus they work over TCP/IP so you can use regular networking equipment and VLAN them out if you decide to grow down the line. One cable pull could do the work of many.

HDbaseT kit is what you should look for.  IR is supported by the spec.  Quality mfgrs will publish distance ratings for various catx cable types at whatever resolution.

The cable matters has held up well for myself using it on local gigs and such.

Had some issues with some installs with them. Cheap enough to replace if they fail.

Atlona is where it's at though if you want quality.

I don't know if any offer IR extension but for HDMI extended runs the HDMI fiber optic cables have worked great.
