Shure Axient with countryman B2D W-4. Cables noisy.
« on: January 13, 2020, 04:38:46 pm »

Looking for suggestions. Using Shure AD1 belt pack with the countryman B2D lav with W4 sensitivity.   The cables seem really noisy when people move around or sit in chairs for panels.  The gain on the receivers are set at 0.  The pad is on in the belt pack.  The cables are taped on to the presenters cloths to try to reduce the cable noise  If anyone has any suggestions on reducing cable noise that would be great. Thanks.

You're sure it's the cable and not the lav capsule? Sorry to ask basic things but you're new here so not sure about your experience level.

There are lots of resources on the internet regarding isolating capsules from clothing, maybe have a look there. If your pretty sure its the cable someone else with more experience with that specific issue is sure to reply but generally I haven't experienced that unless the cable was faulty.

Can you describe the noise you're hearing?

Directional mics tend to have a lot more handling noise than omni, which could be an issue for you.

In my experience directional B2D's do have more cable handling noise than an Omni B3 or 6, however I've never had any issue with it in practice.  They are my preference for many corporates and panel type events.  If you are not already, make sure you make the vibration damping loops on the clip as per the instructions.
