Yamaha DSR 112 case/bag?
« on: January 05, 2020, 12:08:26 pm »

I'm looking for something to haul my Yamaha DSR112s around, preferably individual rolling bags. Gator says it needs their large model. Anybody here using anything else that they like?

How about an EWI dual-compartment case?

We have the smaller Gator rolling bags for our fleet of QSC K12 speakers, and we like them. They don't last forever, but they do a great job protecting the speakers.

These are the speakers that are liable to go up stairs and into small vehicles.

I just move mine with a small handtruck/cart.   Folds up.   The dsr112's I have now have "connie's covers" on them.  Basically moving blankets sewn to fit the speakers so they just drop over.

We have a bunch of the Yamaha stock covers that slip over, leaving the bottom exposed, and a bunch more with Cloud-9 covers that have a flap over the bottom.  The latter are much nicer, and do a much better job of actually protecting the speakers.  No wheels or pockets though...

The problem I see with most of these bags, and I own six of the QSC bags, is that when you lay the speaker down, the the front of the speaker is subject to dents if you lay the on something uneven.  Would they be much better with some type of 1/4 inch material to protect the front of the speaker?

That's what the Gator bag helps with - it protects the grille much better than the stock QSC bag.  The wheels are a bonus, though really they're kind of cheap and the rolling action gets wonky after a while.

Have you used the large Gator with a DSR112? I'm looking for something that's a decent fit.

I have my DSR112s in KLA12 bags.  A tight fit, but it works nicely overall.

I got the Gator bags. Fit is a little odd, because of the pointy wedge shape of these Yamaha cabs. They do fit, though, and don't flop around too badly.

studioslips.com makes a bag specifically for the DSR112. They start at $95 and go up depending on style and features. I donít see an option for rolling bags but you could call them and ask.

They can be discounted a little if you talk to the right person. ;)

The GPA-712LG is a better fit, and I got a pair for $212. Thanks for the heads up, though. That's a Deal of the Day site I didn't have on my list.
