dual pair DMX-Cable into 2 universes??
« on: December 28, 2019, 04:51:08 AM »

Hi there.

I'm a soundtech, and has just done a soundinstallation, where i pulled a bunch of new DMX cable for upgrading the light-installation.
I was  reccomended to do the dualpair for the most cost-effiency way, so as i understood, 1 cable=2 universes. But now im into the part where i'm goin to solder alle the connectors, and founding that the cable only have 1 shield and 2 pairs, so now im in doubt that i have been wrong in my understanding...

So my question summed up:
Can you split the screen in a typical doublepair DMX cable to run 2 universes, or can the cable only handle 1 universe?

Regards from the newbie ;-)

The 2 pairs can share the same shield, so you have 2 universes.

I would terminate in a small 2 d-hole box or mounting/wall plate.

Great - then i have pulled enough cable under the floors!!!! it will all be connectede with neutrick 5P D-chassis in wall/floorboxes!

Thanks
