That's a pretty small cabinet, a lot of the woofers that can handle more output than the stock driver would need a larger enclosure.

How many of these do you have? Also, you say you want more "thump", but that's rather subjective. What type of material are you playing now, and what part of that material are you finding the bass lacking? It might be more worth your time and money to look into an 18" model of some sort as your 15s could simply be running out of mechanical gas.

There is no magic bullet ( speaker ) that will take you from meh to OMG. At least not an affordable one. The problem is the Thiele Small factors that you are locked into with that cabinet. While a better speaker may get significantly louder ( relatively anyway ), it may not be louder at the frequencies of interest.

Low-frequency output generally requires more cabinet volume ( physical size ) and the ports have to be matched to the speaker and cabinet size as well. Keep in mind that just because another speaker can get louder doesn't mean it will get louder in that cabinet and perform as intended. It is all math. Another consideration is cost. To get any real performance boost that will work with that cabinet may require a speaker that costs as much as the subwoofer ( as a whole ) does. It wouldn't be prudent to buy a $300-$400 speaker to put into a subwoofer that cost that much to purchase initially.

Amature speaker building and parts swapping is usually an effort in futility. It is very difficult to beat the performance to value ratio that most vendors are producing these days. All that means is that for what it would cost you to make even a mediocre performing speaker you could have spent the same money on one that was already done and just as good. Take for example an SRX-800 series cabinet. They sell for around $800 in passive variants. You can easily make the cabinet, but the speakers and crossover bits will cost you better than half that price tag, and you still have to build it. There really wouldn't be any savings and you are still left with a homebrew speaker that nobody will take seriously upon initial introduction.

The point being, that buying speakers to put into a cabinet that is already made is caveat emptor, and while improvements are likely, unless you really know what you're doing, it is a shot in the dark. I think your best bet is to gain improvement by either getting more of the same or getting the same with more. Either buy more of the same subs that you have and use the additional quantity to get what you need, or buy new speakers to replace the ones you have that already produce more of what you need. That is my 2 pennies.
