How many wired belt packs can be powered from a Freespeak base?
« on: December 06, 2019, 01:00:01 pm »

I'm surprised this isn't addressed in the user docs.  Does anyone know how many standard RS501 comm belt packs can be powered from a Freespeak II base station before its necessary to use a wired base station or PSU ?

Found this.....

13.3 Power 2-wire beltpacks from the Partyline
2-wire Partyline beltpacks can take power from the Partyline:
FreeSpeak base power: 60 watts supply = 250 mA to Partyline
~10 beltpacks per pair of ports, max 20 beltpacks per base.
Note: The Partyline power operates over a pair of ports
To enable power to the Partyline go to Ports, 2-wire in the CCM or in Base front menu screens.

You've found different documentation than I have apparently...

Part of my question was about the difference between the current line of CC hardwired belt packs which their website specs as being "low current draw" and the older RS5501 packs but I can live with this answer.

Thanks John !

Ive powered an assortment of different belt packs off of the freespeak power. Older packs usually means fewer as they tend to be power hogs. More than 5 501s is pushing it. I usually like to use an external supply after that point. The 700 series can probably get to 10 but again that feels optimistic to me.
