QU-32 losing connection
« on: December 03, 2019, 01:22:22 PM »

I have used my iPad (any older model) with our QU-32 since we got it without issues-but I sometimes go a while without using it.  Last night I ran into a new problem-I kept getting a "Connection lost" error.  When this is happening the QU, the access point and the iPad are all within arms reach (I mainly use the iPad as a second screen).  The odd thing t me is that, even when the connection was lost the QU-32 still showed up as available to connect. Unplugging the ethernet from the QU caused it to drop off the available list as expected.  Rebooting the QU and the iPad had no discernable impact.

I didn't think to connect my phone and see if it was having the same problem-an obvious next step.

Anyone else run into this?

Do you have a static IP assigned to your mixer? IP conflicts can cause weird dropouts like that as devices fight for the same address. Only other thing that comes to mind is to try using a different AP/router or a different ethernet cable and see if the issue persists.

1) Do it right
2) Do it over until you do it right

The access point would be the first thing I'd look at. That's been the culprit about 90% of the time when I've had a problem. What AP are you using?

Are you using a 5g connection. 2.4 is way too cluttered up.

I've been using 5g for a long time.  The problem existed, with no apparent solution for one evening.  The last two nights I have stayed connected for over 3 hours without a glitch. I have no clue what changed. Maybe it was an IP conflict? It's nice that it's working, but not nice that I don't know why it is!

Do you have your SSID hidden, that will give a little extra layer of security.
Do you do a WIFI scan to see if your router/access point is on the same 5g channel
of something else in the venue?
As Taylor suggested set a static IP on the mixer, make sure it's not in the DHCP range set on
on your router/access point.

I'm a QU user as well and do all of the above.
