It looks like it still doesn't allow Type SJ for on deck stringers.

Sort of vague in the description.  As long as you can come up with an argument that can say the way you installed the cord inherently prevents physical damage, you might be able to convince an inspector that it's A OK.  If they disagree, however, then you'll have to re-run heavier cords.   Eg, if you run your stringer along the very edge of the front of the stage, you may be able to say that since nobody will be nearby, it's inherently protected.  An inspector may counter that it's still possible to damage the cord if something slides off the edge of the stage.

Read the new regulation. Sure looks like it's intended for stuff that will be flown and SJ must be covered when on the deck.
