Telos Infinity Comms over IP???
« on: October 30, 2019, 10:28:06 PM »

So i had a good chat with the Telos guys at AES and i was certainly impressed with the concept.  But i'm curious what the hive mind thinks of this new offering from Telos.

I have no experience with the Telos comms, but Telos has been in AoIP longer than any of the other major players. I first used the Telos Axia AoIP system probably 12 years ago. They sell mostly into the radio market. When I first used it they already had 10,000 users in radio stations around the world.

They also wrote the first book I've read on the AoIP topic: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Over-IP-Building-Livewire-ebook/dp/B009OYSVV8

I was pleased to get a free copy from their website sent here to Spain.

I've used the Telos xNodes, but have no experience with the comms I'm afraid.

being heavily invested in RTS already, looks nice but yawn :-) keeping all of my toys playing well together is a big concern with new gear.

that being said, I like what I see in the brochure. although "matrix free" is a little misleading since it seems you need their server running somewhere on the network for config/partylines/ifbs/etc. I will say that getting my RTS gear interfaced with Dante was a huge game changer, being able to easily share audio sources between consoles and comms is HUGE. Leveraging our IP infrastructure to get comms where we needed was good too. Infinity puts you there from day one so thats nice.

guess if I was starting from scratch, or going into an already established Livewire system I'd have to give it a serious look.
