Live Sound Showcase: Weird Al
« on: October 30, 2019, 08:40:15 PM »

I thought this article was interesting as it provides some insight on the logistics of Weird Al's tour using orchestras.  I presume FOH engineer Big Al is Al Rettich here on the forum.

Very cool.  I usually get together with Bermuda when Al tours Utah, but no show this year.  Maybe next year.  Top notch musicians and great production.

Bermuda, is one heck of a drummer! Old school professional. Normally I never have to say anything because he knows his drums so well, that I know he値l catch anything, and fix it.  Top Notch!!

When last I saw Al and the gang on tour in Gainesville, FL about 15(?) or so years ago, I was blown away by how good the band was live.  As a bass player, I loved Steve's ability to sound like anyone and lock right in with Bermuda.  Musically, sonically, and performance-wise, it was tight show all around.

Mind if I ask what other processing or effects Steve Jay uses on the bass?

Thanks!

Rather simple to be honest.  A Subway head, tuner, volume, then a Boss ME-50B.

Thanks, Al!  And please tell the Other Al and the band thanks for the many years of great music and laughs.  If you were the guy at FOH in Gainesville when I saw the band years ago, thank you for the great sound.  If you make it to our humble town again, I owe you a beer or three.
