RF over Fiber options?

Curious as to what else is out there besides the RF Venue Optix system for our uses in UHF?


Anything utilizing the Neutrik Opticon connectors? (have an abundance of inventory with these connectors)

Are they SM fiber? RF over fiber requires SM, and often APC connections.

And I think thor broadcast too but I think most of theirs are sat or catv focused specifically.

RF Venue and PWS RFOF do not need APC connectors as they have Optical isolators installed.  Their noise floor is higher than Wisycom equipment but for simple RX antennas they are great.  They do not do TX for IEM or IFB, just wireless mic and Walkie talkie RX.

RF VENUE

Professional Wireless ... I do not recommend their method of using this for TX.

I miss the original version of the RF Venue Optix. It works very well and didn't break the bank... Too bad I didn't buy more of them :-(

I feel exactly the same.  My pair are still working perfectly.

FWIW, it's my understanding that their source of affordable components for the design dried up.  Too bad.  🙁

+1 was going to say the same thing.

The multi zone, rf otic, diversity fin and collapsible helical and pad antenna made quite the powerful eco system very affordable.

I see more and more of their stuff out on tour amd rightfully so. I'm actually somewhat surprised the 2 big wireless manufacturers that start with "S" havent made their own solutions yet ... anyone think this will happen in the future ... although a niche market people will have to begin to get more and more creative as time passes.

We are producing a new unit ... Optix3. The price did have to go up but so did the performance. Far less ingress at the input/Tx unit and it will now go up to 1GHz for those who need to use X band.

For wireless video applications, I've personally worked with equipment from Thor Fiber, Foxcom, and Optical Zonu.  In my opinion, the Optical Zonu OZ600 platform worked the best, because they were able to accommodate adding an adjustable Bias-T circuit on a selectable switch for use with our down-converters.  I've never used the RF Venu units, but it looks like they have an adjustable bias as well, very useful.  These are the units we ended up using at a racetrack facility with high speed differentials:

Never used the Neutrik Opticon connectors, are they just housing a normal LC or SC connector?  I like how they appear more rugged.  Nothing worse than having a damaged fiber connector in the field, it can completely bring down the entire RFoF link.  I've learned my lessons the hard way to make sure to used armored fiber.
