U'King 36W 18LED RGB DMX lights (from China)
« on: September 12, 2019, 08:36:03 AM »

Got myself 4 of these tiny (and cheap) lights of eBay but they are not displayed in any DMX controller software that I can find.  Does anyone know of a compatible fixture Manufacturer/Type that I can use for these lights? PS. They are 7 channel units with ch.4 for brightness and 5,6,7 for R,G,B.

What are you using as a controller ?  If it is computer based, there is likely a fixture editor...  just create a generic using those 4 channels.

The 4 through 7 range seems odd.  What do they have on channels 1,2 and 3 ?  Just curious.

Or find a generic fixture with channel 1 dimmer, 2,3,4, rgb and add 3 to your dmx address on your controller.

ie fixture dmx value in software = 4
dmx value in fixture enter = 1

I've been trying both Freestyler and Sunlite Suite 3, both of which seem very difficult to use (esp. after trying MyDMX software).

The 'manual' (ha, leaflet) says:
Ch.1 Function
Ch.2 Color Select
Ch.3 Mode/Speed/sound
---- moving the sliders on the seems to do nothing other than Ch.1 where it seems to do random stuff??

On my generic, monoprice 9x10 led pars, the macros are accessed via 2 sliders where 1 is speed.  So you may need to try 1&2, 2&3 to see any affect.

I am making some headway with Onyx.   It has been slow going as I was slammed with event work July and August.  Now I’m getting back to rested and willing to think about lighting control again.

Some fixtures have a master dimmer.  If it is at 0, nothing else will produce light.

The "function" will probably select between several (useless) things, but one may (should) be manual or RGB mode. Only way to know is to experiment.

Likewise, you should run the "function" channel in 10 to 20 unit increments from 0 to 512 in case you have to have some intermediate value to get the other channels functioning. A PITA for sure, but worth a try.
