This has to stop, I am putting a prohibition in my contract!
« on: August 27, 2019, 12:57:33 AM »

When is this going to stop?  Is there anything worse than a bunch of old men in cargo shorts?  I mean come on guys.  You don't suck but the swollen ankles, varicose veins and cargo shorts is just too much to deal with.

Am I the only one this bothers?

You might be the only one checking out their legs.

yeah well, 3 hours at FOH you even notice a bad case of toe fungus on those sandal wearing hippie types :-)

To me this is what a horn blown' show band is supposed to look like.

I absolutely hate shorts.  I think they look unprofessional for stage crew to wear and ridiculous on musicians on stage.

We have a weird thing here in the UK which probably happens everywhere in the spring and autumn.  The sight of men out on a cold morning wearing shorts with a winter coat.

Steve.

Here in the frozen north the white legs and shorts come out while there is still snow on the ground!

The men in our band, including myself, have been very good amateur athletes(including Gaelic football, rugby, hockey, and cycling),  only go onstage with long pants.  Realized a long time ago that performers in shorts just don't help the visuals.

I'll be heading out for a forty mile bike ride this morning on a SGDO(sound guy day off). ;>)

Best regards,

John

Yeah, legs on those Mitchell stage sections.  Ugg.

In that case, you'd best stay out of the Carolinas, Scott.  "Beach Music" (not to be confused with "Surf Music") is still going strong in these parts and cargo shorts & flip flops on stage are part of the package.  The "classier" Beach Music Bands wear white pants...and socks.

This was a new experience for me, moving down from the frozen tundra.

In California you're lucky if they're wearing pants of any length  :o

When I lived in Santa Barbara (~3 deg closer to the equator than here) it was just possible to wear shorts all year round if you were determined (I was not). But I suspected those who did took very long, hot showers before heading out on a winter morning.
