Maybe this one?
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/jbl-model-4660-special-design-speaker-250493712
That's it!

I thought it was the JBL 4660 rather than the EV Variable Intensity, found Keele's AES paper describing it:
http://www.xlrtechs.com/dbkeele.com/PDF/Keele%20(1983-10%20AES%20Preprint)%20-%20Horn%20Covers%20Flat%20Rectangular%20Area.pdf

The horn's look led to it being associated with a derogatory term for a female anatomy part that did not contribute to it's market acceptance..

I installed a few in churches and they work OK down to about 1.5k then the pattern goes to crap.

It takes SIZE to have pattern control.

Something that most of the industry has "forgotten" or doesn't care about, or doesn't understand.

As long as the spec sheet says a "pattern" many (I would argue-most) people believe that the loudspeaker has that pattern across the entire operating range.

Just look at how many "rotatable" small horns there are.

But the customer is "always right", at least in their mind----------

I have learned to add "at what frequency(s)" to any mention of pattern when looking at loudspeaker specs.
