The 8-hour event went great! 8)

Excellent! Looks like it was a great day. I would have put the mouths of the TH118s together just out of principle but I would expect, from having modeled it, that it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. If you want to demonstrate how well they couple with the mouths together try inverting polarity on one of them. The bass will become shockingly inaudible.

I like the orange leg on the tripods. This is on my mind as I have a situation coming up where one of my tripods will be a tripping hazard. I'm thinking of stringing survey marker tape from the feet to the bottom of the speaker and maybe running interference with a bar table (highboy). We'll see what the event folks think.

There was much skepticism as I was setting up, 'That's all you brought?' :(
Many eyes were opened once we cranked it up. :o
Several of the DJs said it was the best sound they had heard!
Super punchy bass, even with only the two Th118s, super clear highs from the SM80s, tons of throw.
I walked to the farmers market down the street at one point and could hear the show clearly at 300 feet or so.
Client and audience happy!  Yay!
I'm completely happy with my PA upgrade. ;D ;D ;D
You should flip the TH118s around, so that the mouths are together.  You will get more coupling, which will result in better LF and a tad more rear rejection

Good to know for next time.
Although the DJs loved having WAY TOO MUCH BASS and VOLUME on the stage (note Texas headphones CRANKED).
I swear the volume on stage was twice what was in front of the stage.
The low end was bouncing around in the echo-chamber-of-a-pavilion, but they never once complained.
Jeez, are these guys deaf?

Frank, the orange is Gaff tape.  Very handy color.

Deaf, dumb or high. Pick any three.
When dealing with DJs, KF850 or similar is your friend. Put one on each side of the dj with a pair of dual 18" below and let them have their party on stage.

Delaying your mains to match the monitors can improve the sound on the floor. Try it if you have the time.

Not the DJs I've worked with who do corporate events.  Those that make their livings working these events have been quite professional.

Not deaf - interesting when you say "Too much bass".

There are two schools of thought even among musicians and DJs. One of my peers is long-time music producer in the Atlanta area and also has a live band that happened to perform recently in Birmingham at a location that has a nicely tuned Danley rig. His feedback was that he loved the sound out front but felt the stage was lifeless. My guess is the critical to quality factor was that there was no mud on the stage. The sound team would think success is a silent stage and perfect levels out front. Many musicians and almost all DJS want the same mix on stage they would hear out front. While I want to say this is especially true with urban music and gospel, I've heard the same thing with classic rock bands with blaring Marshalls.

I think the perfect marriage between the sound team and musicians/DJs is the recognition there are many genres that dont mind and actually prefer the stage volumes realizing its probably a trade-off for optimal reinforcement.

I understand the desire to have the sound on stage mimic the sound up front.
In this case, due to the enclosed pavilion surrounding the stage, the bass buildup and reverberating mush off the monitors seemed quite a bit louder than the PA.
This could certainly have been a perceived effect from the difference in punch and clarity between the stage and the audience.
