Static and popping from wireless mics
« on: July 17, 2019, 12:56:56 PM »

In recent weeks a band I frequently mix has had an issue with loud static, popping noise coming through all mics. It seems to be fine during sound check then becomes issue during show. Can only assume interference but want to see if anyone has had similar issues? He has 3 wireless receivers in case along with his router for ears.

What freq bands, what locales?  These sound like RF hits.

Also what model of Shure? Are they in the lower bands or in 2.4GHz land?

There are two ways to do anything:
1) Do it right
2) Do it over until you do it right

Need to verify the frequency being used, it's happened in different areas but mainly in northern Virginia area. All outside gigs

It could be T-Mobile 5G testing and deployment, along with the resulting television station repacks, that are causing the issues with the wireless.
T-Mobile should be in Phase 4 of their 5G deployment, which according to the video below includes the northern tip of Virginia.  It's scheduled to finalize in two weeks.  Phase 5 deployment is scheduled for a larger chunk of Virginia during the month of August and end the first week of September.
Phase 4 in the video is shown just after the 30-second mark.
