How are you connecting to the Radio?

Measure output to see if it has any DC when turned on. 
See if radios using side PTT are different. Hand mics might switch DC too.
Block with Non Polarized cap if switched at RX.

That seems really short. There are outboard compressors, as well. My Presonus ACP 22 goes to 100ms, I'm sure others have even longer attack times.

Could not get this to work, My desk (Studer) only goes to 5ms attack time,

I will try to adjust the radio setting or will try to get them to prerecord the section

I have a request to get live radio (walkie) conversation over the sound system for a que in a show, not a problem with a DI box, the thing is when it receives it starts with a loud thump!

Any thoughts on how to eliminate this?  disabling the PL code or something?

Problem solved, I build a adapter with a 10uf capacitor and a 100k resistor,
