Setting up dimmable lights
« on: June 04, 2019, 11:45:07 AM »

Hi,

I am a Youth Pastor and have recently put up lights around our stage where the band plays and where we teach from.  I'm having difficulty controlling the lights.

Several weeks ago we installed 8 Par 56 Theatre Lights and connected them to an Eliminator ED15 Dimmer Pack.  We then connected this pack to another dimmer pack of the exact same kind.  The other dimmer pack is connected to 2 surge protectors that are hooked to Edison bulbs.  That same dimmer pack is connected to an Elation 24 channel Scene Setter.

I am unable to get the lights to do anything with the Scene Setter.  The Dimmer packs just cycle through the 4 channels and nothing else.  I've looked online about the Dip Switches and trying to use the DMX addresses, but nothing works.  I'm honestly not even sure if the Scene Setter is even compatible with the Dimmer Packs.  I've read the instruction manual for the Dimmer Packs several times, but the only manual I've been able to find and read through is one for 12 Dip Switches, mine only has 10.  Here is the manual for the Dimmer Packs
 http://cdb.s3.amazonaws.com/ItemRelatedFiles/10607/ed15.pdf

When I turn Dip Switch 10 on, I can't get any of the lights to come on at all.  The LED light for DMX Indicator flashes, and that's it.  I just want to be able to dim the lights from the Scene Setter, nothing too fancy.  Also, I do have a Terminator Plug in the last Dimmer Pack.

Any advice on what I am missing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

We then connected this pack to another dimmer pack of the exact same kind.

Don't plug a dimmer pack into another dimmer pack.

Don't plug a dimmer pack into another dimmer pack.

That worked.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.  I disconnected the 2 Dimmer Packs and put the terminator in the first one.  That allowed me to control the Edison bulbs.  I then took some extensions and plugged the theater lights into the first Dimmer Pack.  I can now fully control the Edison bulbs and the theater lights.  Can also dim them as I see fit.

Again, thank you very much!
