Some years ago our crew was looking for food when we saw a HiFi store. In the window there was this tiny jar of small marbles or such, it should improve the sound when placed on top of a speaker. It was quite expensive too for what you actually got, but who can put a price on placebo, eh? We went inside and asked one of the employees about this magic jar of marbles, and he said... "Um..uh,  nah it's bogus, but you know.."

Man I went into the wrong business. Unfortunately I have this bad habit of wanting to be able to look at myself in the mirror and sleep at night, otherwise what a great business. I love the FAQ page....."made of the same proprietary material that is used to protect computer CPUs" and "All eLink Protection Devices should be replaced approximately every 2 years for maximized protection".

Reminds me of the good old days of "Hi-Fi" when you could buy the absurdly expensive digital wall clock that was supposed to magically clean up your AC power and make everything sound better - just by plugging it into an outlet in the next room.

As amusing as this is, where is the Consumer Protection Commission on this type of thing?
Babies choking on toys, Check.
Out-and-out fraudulent products?  Crickets.
How can these folks sell this snake oil with a straight face?  Or live with themselves?

A fool and their money are soon parted.
Does that also include us "GAS affected" sound providers/musicians too?

We can probably point a finger at the "Truth in Advertising" laws.  This is why you see the litany of scam medications, vitamins, "men's enhancement" drugs, and whole crap load of other things on TV that claim to do something.

To get around these scams, the companies peddling their wares, are required (by law) to have a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen indicating that the use of their product will not cure or prevent a disease (I'm sure everyone has seen this before)... even though the item they are marketing is indicating it will prevent a disease.

Because the disclaimer is required, anyone can sell anything and claim it does everything you need... all legal.

I think there's too many scams running that the FTC can't get them all.  As well, some of these websites may be located in other countries where the FTC has no jurisdiction.

That's actually pretty long lived-Apple and Microsoft convinced people they needed new devices or software every year while they built their fortunes  ;)  .
