Gig cart
« on: April 27, 2019, 01:42:33 AM »

Maybe somewhat off-topic, but might be relevant. In the "old days" we carried massive systems to play local venues. 10 Years ago I played with a wedding band that used a simple system for country clubs, etc, but still needed a van to haul it around.
This is our system for all of our current gigs now. FOH, mixer, stands, keyboard stand, everything except my two keyboards. I do NOT miss the old days.

Wow,  my back is telling me to get a system like that!

I just did one of the smallest gigs I have done in years for a band playing a corporate party and it took 6 trips with a hand truck to load in at the show and more to load the truck at the shop.

Trips:
2 x EV ELX200 12” subs plus carry QSC TouchMix 16 in case
2 x EV ELX200 10P tops plus carry mic stand bag
3 x Audiopile MO24 trunks with AC, XLR, Mics, DIs and gaff, etc
2 x MO24 trunks with 16x100 snake, Speakon cables and 6 space wireless rack
3 x Ramsdell 10” coaxial wedges plus carry 2 speaker poles for EVs
1 x Ramsdell wedge and 4 space rack with Dynacord 1800 monitor amp plus pull my computer bag with laptops, iPad and misc adapters, headphones, sharpies, etc

Left in truck:
Backup QSC TouchMix 16
1 trunk with more AC and cube taps and power strips
1 trunk with spare mics, mic clips, windscreens, and gaff
1 bag with additional mic stands
1 spare 4 space amp rack with Dynacord amp
1 spare EV top
1 spare Ramsdell 10” coax wedge
Folding table with drape for FOH in case  no table at gig

I'm so old, when I was doing FOH for Tommy Dorsey, to balance out the horn section I would slide their chairs downstage and upstage to mix!

I use a inexpensive rolling tool box from Home Depot for all my cords, power strips, etc.  Maybe overkill, but I know I will have enough for what I need.

To be fair, we play restaurants and smaller venues using either a drum machine or electronic drums, and play at a low volume level. No guitar, bass player brings a small amp, all three of us sing. This cart includes all cables, speakers, mixer, keyboard stand, mic stands, speaker stands, and even my trumpet.
Key word here is "low volume"......
