MLG at Hynes Boston
« on: April 23, 2019, 02:13:32 PM »

Today is load in for Major League Gaming Gears of War Pro Circuit at Hynes Convention Center in Boston. We had to get the video prduction truck up to the third floor into the auditorium. It just fit. This is a 42' expando trailer. Usually we have a 53', but it wouldn't fit in the elevator. The tractor and the trailer came up in different loads.

Fri, Sat and Sun we will have over 100 XBoxes ready to play Gears of War on2 stages and an open bracket area. it all gets streamed .

The things we do for work.

So, if the tractor and trailer come up in different loads, how do they get the trailer into or out of the elevator?

With another tractor. First the mule tractor comes up, then the trailer is put on the elevator, then the mule puts it in place and goes away.

Used to "like" working the Palais de Congress in Montreal.
Put a 26' straight body in the elevator, and go straight to the convention floor.
Not quite a Semi, but the biggest elevator I've been on.

Ya, Whatever. Just throw a '57 on it, and get off my stage.

This is a video question - but something I’ve always been curious about... I don’t game - but I’ve always understood latency is super important - so you have to use certain monitors, etc.  when events are broadcast I’ve always been curious about how they split the signal from the Xbox or pc without introducing a couple frames of latency...

The Holiday Inn in Downtown Detroit you can get a cutway box truck in the elevator.  Different scale but it was unique the first time, and a huge time saver.

They show Lyon 3 and 4 as the 42' - The specs are online, they pack quite a bit in that space.  Lyon is down in Columbus, see them on the road all the time.

I too would be curious how they grab the video to send to the matrix/switcher.  I am assuming it is all SDI
