Hey Ethan, hope your research is going well!  Have a look at this:

I forgot that these existed until I was browsing a catalog this evening.  While certainly not cheap, if two or three of these can replace 12 LED S4s you'll come out ahead.  I haven't used this myself yet, but it might be along the lines of what you're looking for.  Hope this helps!
