- Better singers with better technique

Put brutally, no amount of EQ and effects will polish a turd.

I agree with this. Was the first thing I thought. Should have stated that.

Based upon Isaac's equipment list and assuming the integrator did a decent job.
I think that mixing skill or singer skill or both that are lacking.

The best way I learned how to do EQ / understand frequencies was to do a lot of panels/speeches and such. It's just one voice at a time to focus on, and you can hear what you're doing very easy. After a while you'll learn to distinguish frequencies from instruments/voices in a full band setting. And don't be afraid to just cut everything, or boost something, play and experiment. What you hear is what you hear. If it sounds good it's most often good.

The older I get the more I've found out that using differently voiced microphones (and from different manufacturers) is a huge step towards achieving a good mix.  The more eclectic the microphone collection used the easier it is to separate the instruments and vocals in the mix AND the less EQ one needs to use.  Using the same two or three microphone brands/models on stage for music makes it harder to get separation in the mix.
Next-level EQ?  Learn how different microphones sound different from one another.  Learn to use those different microphones in your sonic palette.

Different mics was my first thought, but the OP mentioned wireless, so unless they are willing to go wired, there aren't a lot of choices.

It's easy enough to screw on a new capsule to your wireless. Shure makes a reasonably priced SM86 wireless capsule RPW114 amongst others.

Additionally, Sound Tools offer some wireless adapters which allow the use of Sennheiser, Neumann, and Audix capsules with the Shure transmitters.

Record a multitrack on the mixer.

Fiddle and experiment to your hearts content afterwards.

Being able to multitrack is one of the best learning investments a church can make. This is a valuable tool, both for engineers to learn and hone the craft or to do a better mixdown before service.

It also is great for working with the band, so that they can listen and critique their own parts.
