DMX packet sniffer
« on: November 11, 2019, 03:17:06 PM »

Is there a device I can plug a dmx cable into that will capture the data being sent and log it to a viewable buffer ?  file based on a USB key would be awesome.

I'm sorta interested in seeing what it all looks like at a low level...  so hopefully something cheap.

Hi Mal,

I used the one I got from Elm Video: https://www.elmvideotechnology.com/store/DMX-analyzer-lcd-data-512

It paid for itself on the first day... We had a promo video shoot scheduled for an entire day and Murphy showed up. Within a few minutes, the failing component was identified and replaced. I still use it.

Best regards,

While I'm sure you got your money's worth out of the Elm Video unit, the Chauvet RDM2Go tester at $300 will not only receive and analyze DMX, but also transmit, store scenes, test cables, and do RDM.
