This one's not in the same class as the Fluke, obv, but it's a good leg up from most of the cheap ethernet testers.

Triplett / Byte Brothers CTX200

The $100 kit includes a sniffer.

We’ve been using the dBX CT-3 and so far we dig it! Hard to tell from the pic, but it’s actually two physical units bolted to a plate that can be separated to work at either ends of an installed cable.

Another vote for the CT3

And it will test "speaker twist" connections!

I meant to say 'And it will test "speaker twist" connections!"

In the CT-3 info and on the actual unit they call what we all know as a Speakon a "Speaker Twist" connector.

Maybe it has to do with trade mark infringement so they could not use the word "Speakon" on the tester.

I really like my Signaltek NT for testing Ethernet cables.

They have a different method of ensuring cable integrity than the other testers. Not quite certification, but it ensures the line can handle gigabit by sending data.

Do you suppose Harman elected to use knock off connectors in their unit and had to forego using the SpeakON name?

Pretty sure that if they'd used an actual Neutrik, it would be fair use to mention it's included in the product.

Look at the side pictures of the CT3, you can tell the connectors are a knock off.
