I have mic cables made in the 90s still in service made with Belden 8412..
Most of my mic cables are Belden 8412, I have regretted purchasing every other brand listed so far either from the "feel" or longevity issues.

I also have a lot of CAnare LE4 quad cable cut into 12 ft XLR patch cables largely because at the time ( in the 90s ) it was the only cable that came in most of the EIA colors and I made up sets of colored patch cables for every case pack.  Fine cable even though the quad design was a bit of a waste for 12 ft lengths but it does not take the beating gracefully that 8412 will.

Used gepco for a long time very sturdy ... especially their pairs cable ... color and number labeled.

Recently switched individual cables to link usa ... very pleased with the price quality etc.

I have mic cables made in the 90s still in service made with Belden 8412 with Swichcraft connectors.

Me as well.  I do notice that the 8412 cable from the 90's is a bit more flexible than what you get today.  I'm not sure if it changed with age, or if it was always that flexible.

Belden changed the outer jacket material; originally it was DuPont product called Hypalon which eventually was found to have some environmental and production issues that led DuPont to taper off production beginning in the early 2000's, and they were completely out of the Hypalon biz by 2009.

Without looking at the Belden data sheet, I'm guessing that the outer jacket is another form of CSPE.

I'm trying but I've been in a theater rigging class for the past two days and my brain is fried.

Anyone look at the article I posted?
