I just want a quick and easy way to re-tap to a larger size all the boom extender nuts that ham fisted musicians and stagehands strip out routinely.

Or better yet, insert a Helicoil.

All of my single booms (non extension type) I cut down a bit shorter.

It helps to prevent droop, especially when having the boom all the way out along with a heavy mic on it, like a wireless.

Hi Folks,

Since we're talking mic stands, any cure for quite old K&M stands that have droopy legs?
The allen screws won't do any more tightening.
Maybe some sort of shim in there?

Thanks and good health,  Weogo

You can get new plastic inserts for the legs as spare parts IIRC.

The allen head screw threads into a square nut sitting in a pocket so it can't rotate, I'm thinking you have to see if the two aren't stripped to some degree and not capable of enough pressure to stiffen the droopy leg syndrome.

Best regards,

John
