Indeed. In most of engineering (not just audio) the "cutoff frequency" of a high- or low-pass filter is taken as the frequency at which the magnitude is 3 dB below that in the pass-band, in other words the half-power point. But for some reason Bessel filters are treated differently. Be forewarned   :-\

The nominal width of a Gaussian (or normal) curve is also fraught with danger.
