Midas M32 sidechain setup
« on: March 12, 2019, 05:10:05 PM »

Midas M-32: How can I apply a side-chain effect to individual input channel?  Looking at the EFFECTS menu, the choices for FX 1-4 are either "insert" or "bus (  )".  Must I assign that individual channel to a bus in order to apply this effect? I would hope not, but I have found nothing on the web or in the manual that has helped.
THANKS....Lee

Unfortunately the X32/M32 format doesn't really support a great number of options for sidechain work. The compressor and gate have a side chain option so you can trigger them from another source, but as far as sidechain options, I think that is it. Everything else is either insert or buss as you mention.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Thanks, Luke.  Actually, I found the answer to my question.  The manual & lots of YouTube tutorials are geared to sidechain setup assigning to the inputs.  I was attempting to use the AUX inputs, and they don't function that way.
(A note to that effect somewhere in the literature would have been helpful!)

Yeah, the aux channels are very limited compared to the main channels.  Note that the limitation isn't the actual physical inputs, it's the processing channels that are limited.  I'm sure there's a technical reason they did that, but it's a frustrating limitation at times.
