Need good 1.4 inch compression driver !!
« on: October 18, 2019, 03:12:26 AM »

Hello new in town.  Previously used 1 inch Comp drivers but changed design to a new type 1.4 inch linear array high frequency horn.   Need frequency coverage from 1600 Hzs and up.  The more dBs per watt the better (>110) and frequency extension like at least 16KHz reasonably flat would be nice.  Used ring radiators CD in the past but seem all are 1 inch like BMS 4540.  Maybe use an adaptor 1 inch to 1.4 if no good 1.4 inch candidates are available? Any suggestions appreciated.

Plenty of good 1.4" options. I use the 18Sound ND1460 on RCF HF94 horns, and they do the job every time. They need a bit of EQ to get the top end up, but apart from that they're very smooth and have useful output to around 800Hz.

Have a look at the usual suspects (B&C, Faital Pro, RCF) and see what's out there.

Why specifically are you looking at a 1.4"?

Very often smaller drivers will give greater output at the higher freq.
