Crown XTI6002 power switch pushed in... won't come back out
« on: February 26, 2019, 07:40:23 PM »

Have tried to get support from Harman for this issue and it seems like even they don't have a good breakdown of parts for these Crown amps. I explained the problem to the support rep on the phone and told him I was pretty sure I need the actual electrical part of the power switch that is soldered in. He seemed to understand somewhat but couldn't view an exploded drawing for some reason. He said he was fairly certain he had the correct part and sent me the long internal plastic pushrod which connects the front button to the switch itself. Seriously? Has anyone else had to perform this repair? Have a good part# ? Any information would be helpful. I have not actually taken the amp apart just yet, but spoke to a very reputable amp tech locally and he said he's had to replace them before and it has been the electrical switch. I am so frustrated for the lack of support on such a high end unit. What do large touring outfits do if they need a part while on tour? I waited over a week for this thing to be shipped first class mail, just to receive the wrong part.

I would have already opened up the amp to see what was really going on.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to go ahead and crack it open to see what's up before I decide to take it to the technician.  I can't be down long enough for him to diagnose and then order parts.  I need to know what I need before I haul it in.  Can't believe the push button is made this cheaply on a $2500 amp!  This hasn't been gigged and only gets turned on twice a week for the past 3 yrs.

Those amps do use a long push rod to get from the font panel back to the switch, while the part they sent sounds correct it may not be the main cause of your problem.

The largest have their own factory-level service techs and maintain their own parts inventories.  On-tour amp spares are typically 1 or 2 units.

Clair has been known to carry 1 or 2 of each transducer used as well.

At this level it's a very different world than most of us are accustomed to.

Had this issue at a club I sold a 6002 to. I had to open the amp, and reattach the pushrod to the switch, however the retaining clip was completely missing. Had to advise users to not "flick" the power switch once I reassembled.

Touring units carry spares of everything.

I always carry a spares, power amp, mixer of one form or another,
DSP, analog crossover and a used but still good high frequency diaphragm for my main cabinets.

Last September I had to put the spare into service.
