Kurt Schrotenboer:
My old desk (1 of 2 FOH) from The Who system. Ran the system after it was bought from Heil post Quadraphenia tour. When LCE closed I bought the better condition desk. Made many great 4 track recordings with in my home studio. Designed by Bill Hough who (I believe) had worked for Neve. I knew this desk inside and out, replaced caps, rebuilt the wire wound PG faders and even found an intermittent fault from a wire pinched under a summing card. These desk had a very warm Neve sound. The EQ was 4 band and shelved on top and bottom. Dual 3 way crossover built into it in the section strips. 2 aux ins for coupling the sister desk. 2 monitor, 1 effect and 1 cue sends. 240 foot dual snakes and 2 stage boxes with 2 splitter fans and left and right stage amp fan snakes. Extra 5 channels per main snake accessed from additional connector on back of the desks. With both desks a total of 40 input channels, 6 crossover outs, 2 monitor, 1 effect, 1 cue and 4 track outputs. The desks had current amplifiers driving output transformers on all the sends thru the snake which helped make the desk weigh 285 in the flight case. It was built like a tank. Not many pictures of it so here are some of mine not found anywhere else. The whole system picture includes the tracker trailer and GMC mobile home for the crew. ...and yea that was me back then. I'm enjoying a Midas Verona 480 now. Ask what you will.

Thanks for the great pics and description, Kurt. It's really a beautiful console.

When you say it weighed 285 in the case, is that pounds or kilos? I presume the latter but it would be good to clarify.

Looking at the pics, can you describe the EQ? Is it 2 band sweep and low fixed but switchable frequency? I can't quite read the fixed values.

Thanks!
