Srx 835 passive spec's
« on: January 22, 2019, 10:24:32 am »

Looking at specs of 835 it appears 725s have a bit more wattage:

835 8 ohm

Power Handling: 3200W Peak, 1600W Program, 800W Continuous

725 4 ohm

Power Rating (Continuous; Program; Peak):
- Passive: 1200 Watts; 2400 Watts; 4800 Watts

Moving 725s and hanging 835s.

What the specs don't tell us is the sensitivity of the 835s. The 835 will "throw" a bit further with it's narrower horn. The 725s also have an extra 15" driver.

No, it doesn't have "more wattage" unless you are in the business of converting voltage to heat.

What is it about the 725's you're unhappy with that the 835's would address?
The 725's, on paper, are more efficient (99 dB SPL vs. 95 dB SPL) than the 835's with a max SPL of 136 dB vs. 130 dB.  On the other hand, the 725 is 5 lbs heavier (100 vs. 95) and doesn't get as low as the 835 (53Hz vs. 43Hz).  Have not heard the 835 but would imagine the sound difference to be negligible overall with the 835 appearing to be a bit clearer and more forward due to the MF driver.

Thanks Will,

In looking at specs that was my concern I comparing the 2, guess should have pointed more at the efficiency then wattage. Wouldn't be a big difference in perceived loudness, but definitely don't won't to take step back. The reason I'm moving to 835 is ability to fly. My current 725s not flyable.

After checking out the specs of passive models Iím not sure how the specs make any sense on the powered boxes anymore.

Having used the 725 and 835p, I have to say the 725 has a little more impact but the 835p does sound better.
