You appear to have too much time on your hands...

There are red potatoes, blue potatoes, and if we have a non-diseased black potato we have three phase.  Plain white are obviously the Potato Neutral.  They're self-grounding in the wild.

The moldy green ones serve as ground.

Holy crap...
I recently had one of my friends tell me all about "free energy" so I looked up this video about using a pair of potatoes to generate 230 volts. Perhaps only one potato is needed for 115 volts, but I'm not going to try it since working with a live potato would require that I purchase new PPPE (Personal Potato Protective Equipment) rated for hot potatoes. It also appears that the trick to making these free energy devices work is a hot glue gun instead of solder. Whoda thunk?

When they run out of electricity, then mash them in and distill to methanol - run that in your truck and generators for some "second generation" power...

Silly things on Youtube I understand.  If something gets a following, cool.

The stuff that is promoted on click-bait websites at an advertising cost well beyond Youtube revenue is odd.

The products they are selling are mistrust in technology and mistrust in institutions.

But who is the backer?

But who is the backer?

There's always been a certainl level of mistrust of super-big companies that MUST be screwing over consumers. Remember the magnets you could put on the gas line feeding the carburetor of your car that would "double" your MPG? Or how about the special carburetor that would run on water, but the "Big 3" had suppressed the patent so they wouldn't go out of business? In the middle ages it was alchemy that could turn lead into gold, extend life, etc... Of course, if any of the "inventions" had any truth they would be peer reviewed and turned into a product post haste. But anything that breaks the laws of physics as we understand it would require a complete rewrite of what we think we know. That's why Einstein's theories were so earth shattering, requiring a complete rework of the Newtonian Physics of the time. New things will be discovered involving dark matter and dark energy, and perhaps someone will figure out how to tap into those mysterious powers. But I'm pretty sure it won't be a guy with a few coils of wire and a hot melt glue gun. The average person on the street is just so gullible.
