I'd say a downgrade. Go with SRX800 if you want to go powered. The KW series compares better  to the PRX series which is still a great product but the SRX is superior.
I used to have the passive SRX700 series PA and it rocks but I do enjoy the powered simplicity of the SRX 800 though and I do NOT miss that heavy amp rack!!

As others have said check out the Yamaha DSR/DZR series also.

The weight of the SRX system is definitely one of the factors that has kept me from changing my system over the years.

Will nailed it in post 2.

Why spend money for a step down, especially if the current system is paid off and making money?

Why spend money for a sideways move?

Why spend money for an incremental upgrade?

If there is something the current system can't do - find a true upgrade, preferably a few steps up if possible.  Changes cost (waste) money, best to do it as seldom as possible.

There is no comparison between the 712 and a K12.  The 712 is one of the best small 12+horn speakers out there at a sub $3k level.  A speaker that keeps on giving.  The K12 is a nice reliable warm speaker at reasonable volumes, but chokes and gets congested if pushed at all.
