It depends on the application. What's your target application?

If you have the money, I would stock both as they are very different sounding mics.

In all actuality the 22 can be and usually is a better sounding mic than the Beta87. The RC-35 is head and shoulders above the Beta87. A better comparison to the RC-35 would be to compare it to a KSM9 or or KMS 105. More than a few very talented people tend to think the 35 in any form is the equal to or better than both of those mics.
