SQ6 powered by car transformer.
« on: November 23, 2018, 09:51:41 AM »

Not that I will be buying an SQ6 today. No...
But if I was to buy one ..... a used one maybe. And if I had to travel a few hours or so to get it maybe.......could I play with it on the way home by plugging into a 12v>110v car transformer? Cause maybe just maybe IF I find one by chance laying around somewhere, I might be too impatient to wait till I get home.

I might have found my Christmas present after all....

It would depend on the inverter and if it was sine wave or square wave.  Also how much wattage.  400 watt or 2000 watt.  SQ6 is listed as needing 110 watts so a good 400 watt inverter would work well.

It might be a little distracting while you are driving.

The fun would be driving near by and using the ipad to change what she is doing.

In my experience with inverters and audio gear. Yes, there is an ideal setup. But for messing around? Just use any power inverter 100w or higher and have fun! :)

Not to be too pedantic but car voltage is DC so a simple transformer wouldn't work... they typically use an inverter (a switching device to chop the DC into AC, then a step up transformer. ). Not generally very clean AC power so YMMV.

Yep.

But She already has A&H and is used to the workflow.

There isn't a higher sound quality board out there atm in the price range. So there's no downsides.
