DSR > DZR for Christmas???
« on: November 18, 2018, 12:52:30 PM »

"Christmas is coming,
My wishlist isn't fat,
I need someone to help me - can someone please do that?

Has anyone been able,
To do a side by side,
on 2 specific speakers?,
Come on now - don't hide.

I gotta find an answer,
Or I'll be outta luck,
It all comes down to this one box,
I hope it doesn't suck,

You all get where I am going,
You know it has to be
It's all about the Yammies,
I have GAS - don't you see?

So please provide me input
On whether I should shoot,
For the new DZR's or simply
leave it moot.

DSR vs DZR is what its all about,
I gotta get some info,
My time is running out.

I hope I've been a good girl,
And Santa knows my name,
'cos if I end up with slippers
It will be a crying shame...."

I’ve lost count, but from what I recall you have JBL, Yamaha, Denon speakers.
Consider selling what you have, add the money you’d spend on more Yamahas and get rid of the MI speakers and get a pair of pro level speakers.

I sold the Denons right away to another member. The DZRs would replace the DSRs.
I would consider going to Danleys or similar BUT at this point I don't want heavy speakers and a heavy amp rack all over again.
Also I really enjoy using powered speakers - and keeping my gear modular allows me to scale to each show more easily.

Debbie,
Mind if I reuse this perfectly stated “plea” as I prep for the next conversation with my better half?

Hilarious!

May you soon be able to ring out your new system with decibells.
Perhaps in time to ring in the new year.

Heard the DZR at AES.  The 3 way was very impressive.  The others were very nice but I wouldn't run out and replace your DSR expecting a huge upgrade. In all honesty, I was underwhelmed by all but the DZR 315. I guess I was expecting a lot more.  Again, Great sounding speaker but just from the hype I was expecting more..

I'd Seriously consider making a serious upgrade and putting out a little more.  Maybe look into some rcf tt22a, nxl24, nx45 or nx32, or db tech ig4t or any other type in this price point.  Yes, they are a little more than the dzr but I think they would be a noticeable step up from the DSR.

I've been using rcf tt2a as my main small event tops with more than impressive results.  I've used Nate Zifra's IG4T quite a bit and can't speak highly enough of them.

Debbie,

I love the poem. But as someone else said, "I was Underwhelmed by the DZR" In my opinion, there just wasn't enough anything to make it worth it. Maybe,  I went in expecting a Martin sound or a Meyer sound and just didn't get it. They were clear and loud, but not living up to the hype.

However, If your DSR's have been used a lot and maybe are getting a little tired and your wondering how much longer they will hold out.... I think that the DZR series is a slightly higher lateral move.  Also, I didn't get to take them out and run a band through them so maybe my observations are moot. I did spend about 40 minutes with them running all kinds of music and vocals through them and again, I thought...Ok, slightly better....

But GAS, we all have it sister.
