I've been using one of those 3-light testers for correct polarity etc. Gets the job done and was included with the multimeters I bought along with a NCVT. Gotta love Klein Tools.
Juggling all that stuff is a pain and it would be slick to just have a single thing that does it all. I think the load testers mentioned above are a great solution to my issue. I can put them on a 5ft cord and I won't even have to crawl on my knees.
Might want to add something like this to your toolkit:
MOLEX/WOODHEAD 1760 Receptacle Tension Tester
(Not an endorsement. I've never actually used a tension tester. Available cheaper elsewhere.)
I'm still giggling about this Frank. Why does every floor polisher ever made have a cord that is 6" too short to get to the far corner of the room?
For that receptacle that's had a vacuum cleaner or floor polisher plugged into it every night for the last 30 years And now it's yours.
