KLA Angler
« on: November 01, 2018, 03:38:19 PM »

I just finished the prototype Angler to put a pair of KLAs on a tripod.
It puts the top speaker at 0 degrees.

It's not letting me attach the (small) photos.
I'll try later.

I had to remove a photo from another post to make room apparently.

Nice.  I’m still in for a pair.

Nice.  I’m still in for a pair.

Great,
I still need to try one on a KLA (I don't own one) to be sure I measured everything correctly.
Hopefully they'll go to anodizing this week.

I don't have any reason to doubt the strength of the anglers, but just looking at that picture with the two KLAs "precariously balanced" atop a skinny pole makes my gut say "stay far, far away."

Probably won't work on keeping drunks from dumping your gear, though.

(How long 'til some punter tries to stack a third KLA on top?)

I myself am not a fan of the KLA box. They are literally a K12 on its side and they sound like it. Just never been happy with KLA's

I don't want to derail too much as this thread is about Dave's anglers .... but is there much benefit in the 2 KLA's per side compared to a K12 or any other point source speaker?

I'm a Yamaha fan personally, but this is a common use of the KLAs.
Without the KLAngler, the top box has great coverage of the sky. :o
The speakers have a built-in connector, so they act as one big lump.
The bracket puts the CG of the pair directly over the pole, so if the tripod is sturdy enough, it should be good.
